About

Hi, I’m John-Mark

I help hospitality leaders run better restaurants, build stronger teams, and create experiences people remember.

John-Mark Larter

I’ve spent over 30 years in hospitality, starting in the dish pit and working my way through nearly every role in the industry.

Along the way, I learned something that isn’t talked about enough:

The work is harder than it needs to be.

Not because people don’t care.
Not because they aren’t trying.
But because the systems behind the work often don’t hold.

And the consequences are real.
80% of restaurants don’t make it to the five-year mark.

So people compensate. They step in. They fix. They push. And they burn out.

Over time, that becomes the job, and the magic of hospitality takes a back seat to the daily grind.

Hospitalchemy exists to make the work clearer.
Simpler.
More sustainable.

Because hospitality will always be demanding.
It shouldn’t always be exhausting.

My Journey:

  • 30+ years in hospitality
  • More than 25 concepts opened, led, and supported
  • Experience across full-service restaurants, QSR operations, bars, hotels, coffee shops, and events
  • Still learning every day

What I Do Now

Today, I work with hospitality leaders to bring clarity to the work.

Through writing, coaching, and the Hospitalchemy framework, I help hospitality leaders build systems that hold, develop teams that grow, and create guest experiences that feel effortless, memorable, and real.
